The Trump administration is taking decisive action to protect America’s agricultural backbone and food security. Foreign adversaries currently control nearly 45 million acres of U.S. farmland—a staggering vulnerability we can no longer afford to ignore.
At a pivotal press conference, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins unveiled the National Farm Security Action Plan. This robust initiative aims to ban foreign entities, particularly those from China, from acquiring agricultural land in the United States. The time for action is now, and we will not stand by while adversaries undermine our agriculture and threaten our national security.
“We are working to issue regulatory action to remove over 550 entities from foreign countries of concern from our preferred catalog,” Rollins stated forcefully. The presence of these foreign adversaries on American soil represents not just an economic risk, but a direct threat to our sovereignty.
Join Rollins at that press conference were top officials including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, all committed to safeguarding our nation. As Rollins emphatically stated, “American agriculture is not just about feeding our families; it’s about protecting our nation.” We are taking a stand against foreign entities that seek to manipulate our food supply and steal our research and innovations.
This action plan targets seven critical areas of concern. It will increase transparency and impose stringent penalties against foreign ownership while focusing on enhancing domestic investments to boost supply chain resilience. We are also zeroing in on foreign crime syndicates and biological threats that could endanger our food supply.
The USDA is set to work alongside state leaders and Congress to swiftly enact measures that prevent “countries of concern” from purchasing U.S. farmland. As Rollins reiterated, we will use every tool at our disposal, including presidential authority to reclaim land that has already been compromised by foreign adversaries.
We are not stopping there. Addressing biological threats is a top priority. Reports of Chinese nationals attempting to smuggle biological material into the U.S. underscore the urgency of this mission. We will not tolerate such actions. As Attorney General Pam Bondi declared, “It’s going to stop.” The FBI is already investigating over 100 bio-smuggling cases, and we are committed to bringing these criminals to justice.
Additionally, aggressive action is being taken against the trafficking of illegal pesticides flooding across our southern border—another infringement on American safety that will not be accepted.
In this uncertain world, Americans deserve a government that prioritizes their safety and prosperity. We will protect our farmland. We will protect our research. Above all, we will protect our nation. The Trump administration is leading the charge, and together, we will forge a secure and prosperous future for American agriculture.
