Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer just admitted Democrats will undo billions in taxpayer savings by reversing the Department of Government Efficiency’s (DOGE) hard-won budget cuts.
At a recent event hosted by a left-wing think tank, Schumer boasted that his party is preparing to “restore most of the cuts and even go higher than previous years.” In plain English: they’ll roll back efficiency measures, flood HUD and transportation programs with fresh dollars, and let federal waste run wild again.
This is a brazen power grab. Under HUD Secretary Scott Turner, DOGE’s task force identified $260 million in excess spending—and delivered real results by slashing unnecessary programs and forcing every department to earn its keep.
That team didn’t stop there. It canceled $4 million in redundant diversity, equity, and inclusion contracts that added no value to core services—contracts Democrats had championed for ideological reasons, not performance.
These aren’t abstract numbers. They’re hard-earned budgetary wins that freed up resources for genuine priorities: affordable housing projects, critical infrastructure repairs, and frontline social services. Republicans championed this common-sense reform; Democrats are poised to bury it under a mountain of new spending.
Schumer’s pledge reveals the Democrats’ true agenda: endless expansion of government, regardless of fiscal consequences. They want bigger bureaucracies, more red tape, and less accountability.
Republicans must stand firm. We cannot allow a partisan spending spree to dismantle the efficiency gains DOGE delivered. It’s time to demand a floor vote and expose any attempt to reverse these cuts.
Americans deserve a lean, accountable government that respects their tax dollars. We will block every effort to undo DOGE’s reforms—and force Democrats to defend their reckless plans in the harsh light of public scrutiny.
