On January 26, 2020, Fauci wrote to himself: “It now appears using epi data and genomic data that the first infection was in early December and was not connected to the market.”
He went further. “Now we know the market was not the source, it was the amplifier,” Fauci underscored in his private notes.

As late as June 2024 — four and a half years after privately ruling out the wet market — Fauci told Congress and wrote in his memoir that the market remained the “most likely origin” of the coronavirus.
The Cover-Up Extends Beyond Words
Fauci didn’t just lie passively. He actively worked to suppress the truth. The former NIAID director commissioned scientific papers specifically designed to debunk the lab leak theory while serving on the White House COVID Task Force.
He never shared his private conclusions with the seven other original members of the Coronavirus Task Force. Ken Cuccinelli, then-acting Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security, confirmed that Fauci kept this critical information from the team “even as the source was a subject of intense interest.”

The Asymptomatic Transmission Deception
The diary entries expose another critical falsehood. On the same day Fauci privately acknowledged the market wasn’t the source, he wrote about asymptomatic transmission: “GAME ON!!! Things are changing rapidly.”
He noted that Chinese officials reported transmission during the incubation period and expressed deep concern: “This has enormous implications for how we handle people from Wuhan.”
Two days later, Fauci told reporters the exact opposite: “The driver of respiratory outbreaks is symptomatic people, not asymptomatic carriers.”
Why would America’s top infectious disease expert downplay a threat he privately called a “game changer”? The answer demands investigation.
