Leaders across Europe are uniting behind President Trump’s bold framework to achieve peace between Israel and Gaza, sending a clear message to Hamas: Accept these terms or face the consequences.
The White House unveiled a strong 20-point plan to resolve the long-standing Middle East conflict. In it, Hamas is expected to release all hostages, disarm, and relinquish control of Gaza. In exchange, Israel would cease military operations and release approximately 2,000 Palestinian prisoners. It’s a fair deal that places the onus squarely on Hamas.
Israel wasted no time in agreeing to these terms. Meanwhile, Hamas’s hesitation to review the proposals reveals their weakness and lack of commitment to peace. European leaders recognized the significance of Trump’s initiative and urged the terrorist organization to embrace the opportunity for lasting peace.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz publicly commended President Trump, declaring the proposal as the “best chance so far for an end to the war.” He emphatically called on Hamas to accept the terms and end the hostility, emphasizing Germany’s readiness to support political efforts and reconstruction in the region.
French President Emmanuel Macron, previously controversial for prematurely recognizing Palestine, aligned with Trump’s strategy, stating: “I welcome President Trump’s commitment to ending the war in Gaza.” Macron made it clear: Hamas must release all hostages without delay and adhere to the proposed framework.
British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer echoed this sentiment, expressing gratitude for Trump’s leadership and his resolve to bring about an end to the fighting. He urged all parties to cooperate with the U.S. administration, insisting that Hamas must lay down their arms and release all remaining hostages for peace to prevail.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, taking a more cautious approach, lauded Trump’s proposal as a potential turning point. She insisted that Hamas, which instigated this war with its barbaric attacks, must disarm and relinquish control over Gaza. Italy stands ready to support peace, working alongside the U.S. and European allies.
Despite the global support surrounding this groundbreaking plan, the critical question remains: Will Hamas, the perpetrators of the horrific October 7th terror attacks, surrender power after nearly two decades of control? The answer will define the future of the region.
