Over 264 criminals have been apprehended in New Jersey thanks to the decisive action of federal, state, and local law enforcement in “Operation Apex Hammer.” This isn’t just another routine police operation; this is a potent display of law and order reclaiming our streets from the grip of violence and crime.
Among those arrested are 17 homicide suspects, 95 gang members, and numerous individuals wanted for serious violent and sexual offenses. This operation reflects a zero-tolerance stance on crime, particularly against those who prey on the vulnerable in our communities. The initiative was spearheaded by Acting U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey Alina Habba and United States Marshal Juan Mattos Jr.
Of particular concern are the apprehensions of illegal immigrants with serious charges. A Guatemalan illegal alien facing multiple counts of sexual assault was arrested in early June. Another suspect, a Honduran illegal alien wanted for attempted sexual assault of a minor, was taken into custody later that month. Such incidents illustrate the urgent need for strict immigration enforcement to protect our citizens from those who would do them harm.
Operation Apex Hammer was a month-long, focused on reducing violent crime across the state by targeting gang members, including MS-13 and Tren de Aragua. This initiative clearly shows that law enforcement is working tirelessly to identify and capture those who represent a clear and present danger to society.
“We are doing multiple cases at once to clean up as quickly as possible,” declared Habba. “Violent crime is number one.” This commitment to public safety is essential in ensuring our communities are secure. The evidence speaks for itself: law enforcement is taking the fight to the criminals, and they are not backing down. It’s time to rally behind these efforts and demand accountability for those who threaten our way of life.
