Film Executive Who Battled Antifa Squatters for Five Years Launches Congressional Bid: “We Can’t Just Exit the Arena”

Antifa activists illegally occupied his property for months, attacked workers with rocks and sticks, burned equipment, harassed his family—and local Democrat officials refused to help. Now Ryan Millsap is fighting back by running for Congress.

The film studio executive and real estate developer announced his candidacy for Georgia’s 10th Congressional District, pledging $4 million of his own money to the race. His decision to enter politics stems directly from a brutal, years-long battle with far-left extremists who turned his 40-acre property near Atlanta into an illegal encampment.

Democrats Enabled Antifa Occupation

Millsap’s nightmare began when Antifa activists targeted his land because of its proximity to the proposed Atlanta Public Safety Training Center—what radical leftists derisively call “Cop City.” The activists didn’t just protest. They invaded.

“They moved into my land illegally,” Millsap explained. But here’s where the story gets truly outrageous: officials in Democrat-controlled DeKalb County “refused to remove them as trespassers from my land.”

The activists established what Millsap described as “a little village” on his property, camping for months. They attacked anyone who approached with rocks and sticks. They burned equipment. They harassed his family. And Democrat officials stood by and let it happen.

Five Years of Legal Warfare

The occupation was just the beginning. Antifa’s legal team filed lawsuits against Millsap—a property owner trying to defend his own land. Five years later, that litigation continues.

This experience opened Millsap’s eyes to a harsh reality: “If we don’t do something radical in this country, then all of America could end up being as bad as DeKalb County.” He accuses local Democrats of being “complicit in the Antifa nefarious actions.”

He’s not wrong. When government officials refuse to enforce basic property rights and allow violent extremists to terrorize law-abiding citizens, they’ve chosen a side. And it’s not the side of order, justice, or the American people.

From Canceled to Candidate

The backlash Millsap faced would have broken most people. Instead, it forged him into a fighter.

“The nice thing about being canceled is that you find out it’s not that bad,” Millsap said. “The nice thing about facing an enemy that ultimately is weak is that you realize that you can defeat them, but then you just have to enter the battle. And that’s what I’m doing.”

This is the mindset Republicans need. Not fear. Not retreat. But confrontation and resolve.

Shocking the Political Establishment

Millsap’s entry into the race for the seat being vacated by Rep. Mike Collins caught political insiders completely off guard. The establishment had already lined up behind their preferred candidates. Then Millsap jumped in with serious financial firepower and a compelling story.

His answer to why he’s running now cuts to the heart of what’s broken in American politics: “The career politicians are not going to get us out of this mess.”

He’s absolutely right. We need leaders who’ve built something in the real world, who understand how businesses work, who’ve met a payroll and created jobs. Millsap has done all of that.

Building an Empire in Hollywood

Millsap’s credentials are impressive. He built a major studio complex in Atlanta that became home to some of Hollywood’s biggest productions. Sony Pictures, Disney, Warner Bros., HBO, and Netflix all leased space in his facility.

Major blockbusters filmed there: Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Jungle Cruise, The Tomorrow War, Venom, and Godzilla: King of the Monsters. These aren’t small-time productions. This is serious business requiring serious expertise.

But Millsap doesn’t see himself primarily as a filmmaker. He’s an entrepreneur who understands finance, marketing, and the power of ideas.

Ideas Matter More Than Marketing

When asked how film production experience translates to politics, Millsap delivered a masterclass in conservative philosophy.

“If you’re starting with the wrong ideas, you’re fundamentally broken from the start,” he stated. “Doesn’t matter how good of a marketer you are, doesn’t matter how good of a storyteller you are, if you fundamentally have bad ideas, then everything you do is going to fail and that’s what we’re fighting against these leftist commie dems.”

This is profound. The left has excellent marketing and storytelling. But their ideas are poison. Open borders. Defund the police. Men in women’s sports. Critical race theory. These ideas destroy everything they touch.

Conservative ideas—freedom, limited government, personal responsibility, law and order—are superior. We just need leaders with the courage to champion them.

The Trump Model

Millsap sees President Donald Trump as the model for the kind of leadership America needs. Trump makes “hard decisions… with resolve” and doesn’t rely on politics as a career.

This is exactly right. Trump proved that successful businesspeople can not only win elections but deliver transformational results. Tax cuts. Deregulation. Energy independence. Secure borders. Peace through strength.

Career politicians gave us $35 trillion in debt, endless wars, and a wide-open southern border. It’s time for a different approach.

Politics as a Hobby, Not a Career

Millsap’s vision for Congress is refreshingly straightforward: it should include people “for whom politics is a hobby, not a primary occupation.”

Politics should function as a means “to protect our lives” and safeguard Americans’ ability to build businesses and families. That’s it. Not to enrich politicians. Not to expand government power. But to protect liberty.

This is the Founders’ vision. Citizen legislators who serve their country and then return to private life. We’ve strayed dangerously far from that model.

Successful Americans Must Re-Engage

Millsap’s closing argument is a challenge to every successful American who’s disengaged from politics: “We’ve got to go back into the arena. On this we can’t just exit.”

He’s right that many “very, very successful” Americans have retreated into “bubbles of beautiful enclaves” while withdrawing from public life. “We are paying the price for that.”

Look around. Crime is surging. The border is a disaster. Inflation is crushing working families. Children are being indoctrinated in schools. Free speech is under assault.

We can’t afford for good people to stay on the sidelines anymore.

The Stakes Are Clear

Millsap’s story illustrates everything wrong with Democrat governance. Antifa occupies private property. Democrats enable it. Law-abiding citizens suffer. The justice system protects the criminals instead of the victims.

This is the future Democrats want for all of America. Lawlessness. Chaos. Property rights trampled. Families terrorized. And if you complain, you’re the problem.

Millsap fought back against this insanity—and now he’s taking the fight to Washington. That’s the kind of fighter Republicans need.

A New Generation of Leaders

The Republican Party needs more Ryan Millsaps. Successful entrepreneurs who’ve built real businesses. People who’ve faced down the radical left and refused to back down. Citizens who view public service as a duty, not a career.

Career politicians created the problems we face. Citizen legislators will solve them.

Millsap’s pledge of $4 million shows he’s serious. His willingness to endure Antifa harassment and five years of lawsuits shows he’s tough. His understanding that ideas matter more than marketing shows he’s smart.

Georgia’s 10th Congressional District—and the entire country—would benefit from leaders like this.

The question now is whether Republican primary voters will choose the establishment favorite or the outsider who’s already proven he can stand up to the radical left.

If Millsap’s battle with Antifa taught him anything, it’s that the enemy is weaker than they appear. You just have to be willing to fight.

America needs fighters. We can’t just exit the arena.
