In reality, these claims serve to shield Democrats from accountability for the government shutdown—a crisis that results from their refusal to back reforms preventing illegal aliens from accessing taxpayer-funded healthcare benefits.
Analysis from experts at the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) reveals the stark truth: contrary to the assertions of Democrats, illegal aliens do, in fact, receive welfare benefits. Documentation from the Census Bureau’s Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP) shows that, despite the successful reforms of the previous administration, illegal immigrants can and do secure welfare.
CIS research indicates that while 59 percent of households led by illegal immigrants utilize welfare programs, only 20 percent of these individuals apply for benefits themselves. It’s their U.S.-citizen children and relatives who are often the ones doing the heavy lifting in securing these resources.
