Governor Mike Braun Takes Action to Protect Indiana’s Representation

Indiana Governor Mike Braun is making it clear: Hoosiers will not be silenced. In a bold move, he has called for a special legislative session to safeguard the voices of Indiana residents and ensure fair representation in Congress. As redistricting looms ahead of the critical 2026 midterm elections, it’s time for Indiana to stand firm against efforts that threaten to undermine our representation.

With Democrats eyeing potential gains, the stakes for the GOP are high. A mere three additional seats for the Democrats could dismantle our Republican majority in the House. We need to act decisively to redraw our congressional boundaries and protect our seat at the table.

“The people of Indiana did not elect a Republican supermajority for our Senate to back down or compromise now,” Braun declared. It’s time for leaders to demonstrate the unwavering resolve that got them elected. As redistricting discussions unfold across the nation—from Kansas to North Carolina—Indiana must not sit idly by.

States like Texas are setting the pace, adopting maps that could secure additional Republican seats. Meanwhile, California Democrats are pushing to create new majority-Democrat districts. If we allow our voices to be drowned out by outside forces, Indiana risks losing its political leverage in Washington.

Governor Braun’s session is set for November 3rd, signaling a potential turning point for hesitant Senate members who are beginning to feel the pressure from constituents and party leaders alike. Indiana Senate President Pro Tempore Rodric Bray previously stated that “the votes aren’t there for redistricting.” This cannot stand. Our representatives must be reminded of their duty to uphold conservative values and deliver results for the people who put them in office.

Republicans across the state, including Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, have voiced their dissatisfaction with inaction on redistricting. If the Indiana legislature fails to act, Kirk made it clear that he will support challengers against those who fail to secure our political future. We can’t let California dictate the outcome of Indiana’s congressional map.

Senator Jim Banks echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the need for a solid Republican map. “They killed Charlie Kirk—now, we must ensure our redistricting reflects the will of the voters and creates a 9-0 Republican advantage.” Indiana Lieutenant Governor Micah Beckwith reinforced the call for courageous leadership, urging lawmakers to remember who entrusted them with their positions.

In response to Braun’s announcement, House Speaker Todd Huston affirmed the commitment to further discussions within the Republican caucus. Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita stands ready to protect the integrity of the new congressional map in court.

It’s time for Indiana Republicans to act decisively, protect our representation, and show that we will not be cowed. The path to preserving our majority lies in bold and assertive action—delivering a formidable map that reflects the values and voices of Hoosier voters. The time for hesitation is over. Let’s draw the line and take back our congressional representation!
