Democrats are exploiting the ongoing government shutdown as a smokescreen for the catastrophic failures of Obamacare. This assertion comes straight from Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI), who made the case during a recent interview.
As the shutdown stretches toward a month, Johnson expressed his bewilderment over Democratic tactics. “I’ll never understand the mind of a Democrat; they just do some truly outrageous things.”
This shutdown isn’t just politics; it’s a calculated attempt to divert attention from their biggest failure: Obamacare’s disastrous shortcomings. “Let’s be clear: their primary aim is to conceal the undeniable collapse of Obamacare,” he stated with conviction.
Johnson elaborated on the Democrats’ strategy, emphasizing their decision to extend enhanced subsidies during the COVID crisis. “These subsidies were meant to be temporary, but they know that allowing them to expire would expose how disastrous the Affordable Care Act really is,” he explained.
He continued, “Democrats are trying to shift the blame for skyrocketing premiums onto Republicans to cover their own mess.” This is an intentional ploy to distract the public from the true cost of their policies.
“Sadly, much of the mainstream media is playing right into their hands, but that narrative is losing traction,” Johnson asserted.
Before Obamacare, approximately 12 million Americans relied on individual policies that offered various choices. The implementation of Obamacare upended that market. They dismantled high-risk pools, short-term plans, and catastrophic care options, forcing millions into their flawed system. This misguided design is directly responsible for the soaring premiums we see today.
Johnson made it clear that Democrats want to obscure their role in this crisis. “They seek to hide the truth about the Affordable Care Act — the unaffordable Care Act. Their solution? Just throw more money at the problem while expecting Republicans to play along. I refuse to do so. We must stand firm against their lies and deceptions,” he declared, urging fellow Republicans to adhere to free-market principles.
