EXPOSED: John Cornyn’s Decades-Long War Against Trump and Conservative America
John Cornyn spent $70 million—making this the most expensive Senate primary in American history—desperately trying to hide a truth that Texas conservatives are now discovering: He’s been sabotaging Donald Trump and betraying the MAGA movement for nearly a decade.
The Washington establishment is in full panic mode. They’ve unleashed an unprecedented financial tsunami to rescue the embattled four-term Senator from a grassroots uprising led by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, the MAGA-aligned conservative who dared to challenge the Republican swamp.
But no amount of slick consultant-crafted propaganda can erase Cornyn’s shameful record of backstabbing President Trump at every critical juncture—from defending the Democrats’ politically-motivated lawfare to actively working to derail Trump’s presidential campaigns when it mattered most.
Cornyn Chose the Swamp Over Trump—And Defended His Political Persecution
While real conservatives rallied to defend President Trump against an unprecedented witch hunt orchestrated by radical Democrats, John Cornyn sided with Trump’s enemies.
The evidence is damning and irrefutable.
When Special Counsel Jack Smith launched his politically-motivated document retention case against Trump, Cornyn didn’t stand with the Republican President. Instead, he blamed the victim, declaring that Trump “created a circumstance for himself, which is I think very, very serious.”
Cornyn went further, essentially validating the entire lawfare operation by claiming Trump “admitted to” the material facts and washing his hands of the political persecution by saying “it’s up to the courts to make the decision.”
This is the language of a swamp creature desperate to maintain establishment respectability—not a conservative fighter.
When House Republicans courageously investigated Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s brazen lawfare against President Trump, Cornyn stabbed them in the back. He publicly condemned their efforts, dismissively suggesting they abandon defending Trump and instead “stick to the agenda they ran on.”
The message was clear: Cornyn wanted Republicans to abandon Trump to the wolves.
After the rigged E. Jean Carroll verdict—a case so absurd it defied legal logic—Cornyn didn’t question the kangaroo court proceedings. Instead, he seized the opportunity to undermine Trump politically, declaring, “The fact is, I do not think he could win the presidency.”
Cornyn wasn’t defending Trump. He was trying to politically execute him.
The Career Politician Who Tried to Stop Trump—Twice
John Cornyn’s betrayal runs deeper than opportunistic opposition during Trump’s presidency. He actively worked to prevent Trump from securing the Republican nomination in both 2016 and 2024—the clearest evidence that his recent campaign conversion is pure fiction.
In May 2023, with the 2024 primary heating up, Cornyn declared Republicans “need someone as an alternative” to Trump, that Trump couldn’t win a general election, and that his “time had passed him by.”
When confronted about calling for the GOP to abandon Trump, Cornyn doubled down with establishment condescension: “In politics, unless you can win an election you’re pretty much irrelevant. I have concerns about the President’s ability to win in November.”
Trump proved Cornyn spectacularly wrong by winning the 2024 election. But Cornyn’s opposition wasn’t based on electoral analysis—it was based on his fundamental opposition to the America First movement.
In December 2022, Cornyn dismissively claimed Trump was “less relevant all the time,” adding that capturing Trump voters “may be able to win a primary but you’re not necessarily going to win a general election.”
The contempt for the MAGA base couldn’t be clearer.
Back in February 2016, when Trump was building the movement that would reshape American politics, Cornyn called him a potential “albatross” for down-ballot races, whining that “we need someone who can unify the party, as opposed to divide the party.”
The irony is rich: Cornyn now uses the exact same “albatross” attack against Ken Paxton, proving he’s simply recycling establishment talking points against anyone who threatens his power.
Cornyn’s Most Shameful Moments: Abandoning Trump When It Mattered Most
The 2020 election aftermath exposed Cornyn’s true character—and it wasn’t pretty.
In December 2020, when Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton heroically led a multistate challenge against unconstitutional election irregularities in Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, Cornyn attacked him. Cornyn publicly stated, “I frankly struggle to understand the legal theory of it.”
Translation: Cornyn was either too incompetent to understand basic constitutional law, or more likely, too cowardly to stand with conservatives fighting for election integrity.
In November 2020, while millions of Americans had legitimate concerns about election irregularities, Cornyn rushed to legitimize Biden’s victory and condemned President Trump for taking action that allegedly added “to the confusion and the chaos.”
Rather than defending the President against a partisan impeachment witch hunt, Cornyn called the vote a “vote of conscience”—establishment code for abandoning Trump.
Perhaps most disgracefully, in October 2020—just weeks before the election—Cornyn created negative national headlines by claiming President Trump “let his guard down,” caused “confusion,” and “got out over his skis” on the coronavirus pandemic.
This wasn’t honest criticism. This was political sabotage designed to damage Trump’s reelection prospects.
Adding insult to injury, Cornyn publicly called Trump’s nemesis Anthony Fauci a “national treasure”—the same Fauci who lied about gain-of-function research, flip-flopped on masks, and became the face of COVID tyranny.
The Border Wall Backstab: Cornyn’s Long War Against Trump’s Signature Issue
John Cornyn represents Texas—a state with over 1,200 miles of border with Mexico. Yet when President Trump promised to build a border wall to stop the invasion, Cornyn viciously attacked the idea as “naïve.”
Let that sink in. A Texas Senator called protecting Texas from illegal immigration “naïve.”
Cornyn declared that the idea of building “some obstacle and people won’t go come over it, or go under it, or go through it is naive.”
He continued his assault on border security by claiming “a new, giant wall between the United States and Mexico from sea to shining sea makes no sense whatsoever.” He arrogantly claimed the border wall would rate “very low” among Texans—while Trump was winning Texas elections.
Cornyn even had the audacity to question whether President Trump understood border security, saying “that’s certainly not my sense” when asked if Trump grasped the issue.
This from a career politician who’s watched Texas transform under an invasion that’s brought fentanyl deaths, cartel violence, and human trafficking to unprecedented levels.
Gun Control: When Cornyn Chose Biden Over the Second Amendment
Despite President Trump explicitly warning that the bipartisan gun control package “will go down in history as the first step in the movement to TAKE YOUR GUNS AWAY,” John Cornyn led the charge to pass it anyway.
Cornyn partnered with Joe Biden to ram through what Biden himself called “the most significant gun legislation in nearly 30 years.” Biden specifically praised Cornyn as one of two GOP Senators who deserved credit for the gun grab.
Rather than standing with Trump and gun owners, Cornyn called the gun control legislation a “good start”—signaling his desire to go even further in restricting Second Amendment rights.
He brazenly admitted he was just following Biden’s orders, stating, “President Biden said do something, and what we knew we had to do is something that would actually pass.”
When the NRA—the nation’s oldest civil rights organization defending gun owners—opposed the legislation, Cornyn dismissed them, declaring they can’t “veto good public policy.”
Cornyn literally chose Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi over the NRA and Donald Trump.
The Reckoning Approaches
As Texas conservatives head toward the May 26 runoff, John Cornyn’s decades-long record of betrayal is finally receiving the scrutiny it deserves.
The Washington establishment dumped unprecedented resources into protecting Cornyn because they know what’s at stake: If Texas Republicans reject the establishment’s chosen swamp creature in favor of a genuine MAGA fighter like Ken Paxton, it will send shockwaves through the entire corrupt system.
Cornyn’s pattern is unmistakable: He betrays Trump and conservatives whenever he calculates it’s politically advantageous, then desperately tries to buy his way back into their good graces when facing accountability.
He’s undermined border security while representing a border state. He’s advanced gun control while claiming to support the Second Amendment. He’s defended the lawfare against President Trump while pretending to be a Trump ally. He’s worked to stop Trump’s campaigns while now claiming Trump’s endorsement.
The $70 million can’t erase the receipts.
Texas conservatives now face a defining choice: Reward Cornyn’s decades of deception with another six years in power, or send an unmistakable message that the era of Republican establishment betrayal is over.
The runoff is May 26. The future of the MAGA movement in Texas hangs in the balance.
