Kamala Harris Lurches Left: Former VP Embraces Radical Court-Packing, Electoral College Abolition in Desperate 2028 Pivot
Kamala Harris just confirmed what conservatives have known all along: her 2024 “moderate” persona was nothing but political theater, and the real Harris is a radical leftist willing to dismantle America’s constitutional foundations to seize power.
Speaking Friday at the National Urban League Conference in Nashville, the twice-failed presidential candidate unveiled a shocking far-left agenda that would fundamentally transform America’s government structure. Her proposals read like a Democratic Socialist wish list – because that’s exactly what they are.
The Radical Transformation Agenda
Harris didn’t mince words about her extremist vision for America.
“We need to revisit the Electoral College. We need to revisit the point of expanding the court, to 13 justices like we have 13 district courts. We need to revisit, if they so want, statehood for Puerto Rico and D.C.,” Harris declared, acknowledging her positions would be “controversial.”
Controversial is putting it mildly. What Harris is proposing amounts to a constitutional coup designed to ensure permanent Democratic control of the federal government.
Court-Packing: When You Can’t Win, Change the Rules
Let’s be crystal clear about what “expanding” the Supreme Court means: rigging the judicial system because Democrats can’t accept that Americans elected presidents who appointed constitutionalist judges.
Harris conveniently abandoned this radical position during her disastrous 2024 campaign, instead promoting the more palatable idea of term limits and ethics codes. Now that she’s lost both the Electoral College AND the popular vote to President Trump, she’s dropping the mask entirely.
The Supreme Court has maintained nine justices since 1869. Harris wants to blow up 155 years of tradition because the Court won’t rubber-stamp progressive policies that fail at the ballot box.
Abolishing the Electoral College: Silencing Middle America
Harris’s call to eliminate the Electoral College is even more transparently self-serving.
This position – lifted straight from the Democratic Socialists of America platform – would effectively disenfranchise voters in dozens of states, concentrating presidential power in coastal urban centers. It’s no coincidence Harris embraced this radical idea only AFTER losing both the popular vote and Electoral College.
The Founders created the Electoral College precisely to prevent a handful of population centers from dominating the entire nation. Harris and her progressive allies want to tear down that safeguard because they view Middle America as an inconvenient obstacle to power.
The Socialist Strategy Session
Harris’s leftward lurch isn’t happening in a vacuum. She’s been conducting what amounts to a socialist strategy tour, courting the Democratic Party’s most radical elements.
Reports confirm Harris reached out to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani – an actual Democratic Socialist – in June to discuss the party’s future. In April, she met with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, another DSA favorite who has made destroying American capitalism her signature cause.
This is Harris’s strategy: lose as a moderate, reinvent yourself as a revolutionary, and hope the Democratic base forgets your record of failure.
Puerto Rico and D.C. Statehood: Permanent Democratic Senate Control
Harris’s support for both Puerto Rico and D.C. statehood completes her power-grab trifecta.
While she backed D.C. statehood in 2024, her newfound enthusiasm for Puerto Rican statehood is transparently tactical. Democrats see four guaranteed Senate seats and a permanent legislative majority – constitutional principles be damned.
The Founders created a federal district specifically to prevent any state from hosting the nation’s capital and wielding undue influence. Harris wants to undo that wisdom for partisan advantage.
Criminalizing Judicial Nominees: Intimidation as Policy
As if her other proposals weren’t authoritarian enough, Harris also called for “accountability and consequences” for judicial nominees who allegedly mislead the Senate – including holding them in contempt of Congress.
Translation: Harris wants to criminalize the confirmation process, threatening nominees who dare to answer questions in ways Democrats dislike. This is naked intimidation designed to ensure only progressive activists receive judicial appointments.
The Front-Runner’s Fatal Flaw
Despite leading the Democratic field for 2028 by double digits over California Governor Gavin Newsom, former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, and even Ocasio-Cortez herself, Harris has a credibility problem that no amount of socialist posturing can fix.
She already ran for president twice and failed spectacularly both times. In 2024, she couldn’t even win her own party’s popular vote. In 2028, she lost everything to Trump.
Now she’s telling voters: “Trust me to tear down American institutions because I couldn’t win under the current system.”
The Real Controversy
Harris prefaced her remarks by acknowledging they’d be “controversial coming from me, in particular.” She got that right – but not for the reasons she thinks.
The controversy isn’t that a failed politician is proposing radical changes. The controversy is that a former vice president is openly advocating for dismantling constitutional safeguards established by the Founders, embraced by generations of Americans, and essential to preserving our republic.
Harris claims she’s “fully, sincerely, focused on these midterms” and hasn’t decided about 2028. But her Nashville speech tells a different story. This is a candidate testing radical messages with the Democratic base, laying groundwork for another presidential run.
The Stakes for America
Make no mistake: Harris’s proposals aren’t about reform or progress. They’re about revenge and power.
She wants to pack the courts because conservative justices won’t legislate from the bench. She wants to abolish the Electoral College because she can’t win Middle America. She wants new Democratic states because she can’t convince existing voters to support her agenda. She wants to criminalize judicial nominees because she can’t accept that the Senate has constitutional authority to consent to appointments.
This is what desperation looks like when it’s dressed up as progressive policy.
The American people rejected Kamala Harris twice. Now she’s proposing to rig the system so their rejection doesn’t matter. That’s not controversial – it’s un-American.
And it’s exactly what voters should expect if Democrats ever regain enough power to implement this radical agenda.
