Maryland Man Arrested for Alleged Assassination Plot Against Trump Budget Director
A 26-year-old Maryland man now sits in an Arlington County jail, charged with attempted murder after allegedly plotting to assassinate Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought—complete with a self-authored manifesto and a chilling “Body Disposal Guide.”
Colin Demarco’s arrest on January 22 exposes the dangerous escalation of left-wing political violence targeting conservative leaders in America.
The Fascist Delusion
Demarco told authorities he feared a “fascist takeover” under the Trump administration. This baseless paranoia—fueled by years of hysterical rhetoric from progressive activists and media outlets—allegedly drove him to plan a political assassination.
Court documents reveal Demarco had identified a target with the initials “R.V.” who had “served as a presidential appointee.” Sources later confirmed Vought as the intended victim.
The evidence against Demarco is damning. He visited Vought’s Northern Virginia home last August, captured on the director’s Ring doorbell camera on August 10.
Armed and Masked
Authorities charged Demarco with attempted murder, carrying a firearm without a permit, and unlawfully wearing a mask. The combination paints a clear picture of premeditated violence.
“We are grateful for the work of law enforcement in keeping Director Vought and his family safe,” the Office of Management and Budget stated.
A Pattern of Left-Wing Violence
This assassination attempt represents just the latest in an alarming surge of politically motivated attacks targeting conservatives and Trump allies.
Just days after Demarco’s arrest, on January 27, Anthony Kazmierczak rushed Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar at a town hall and sprayed her with apple cider vinegar. While this attack targeted a Democrat, it demonstrates the broader breakdown of civil political discourse.
The violence has turned lethal. In September, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was fatally shot during a college campus event in Utah. Bullet casings from the murder weapon bore politically-charged messages including “Hey Fascist! Catch” and lyrics from the Italian anti-fascist anthem “Bella Ciao.”
Presidential Assassination Attempts
President Donald Trump himself survived two assassination attempts during the 2024 campaign. The Butler, Pennsylvania attempt came within inches of success—a bullet grazed the president’s ear while shots meant for him killed Corey Comperatore, a former fire chief attending the rally.
These weren’t random acts of violence. They represent coordinated attempts to eliminate conservative leaders through political murder.
Targeting the Swamp Drainer
Vought isn’t just another bureaucrat. He’s the architect of Trump’s aggressive deregulatory and cost-cutting agenda—exactly the kind of effective conservative reformer the administrative state fears most.
His signature achievement, Schedule F, creates a new employment classification that streamlines the process of reducing the bloated federal workforce. This directly threatens the entrenched interests that have transformed Washington into an unaccountable permanent government.
The OMB director now requires a security detail from the U.S. Marshals Service due to numerous death threats. Think about that—a budget director needs armed protection because he’s doing his job of cutting wasteful government spending.
The Climate of Hatred
For years, left-wing politicians and media figures have branded Trump officials as “fascists,” “Nazis,” and “threats to democracy.” When you repeatedly tell unstable individuals that their political opponents represent existential threats to America, violence becomes inevitable.
Demarco’s alleged manifesto and assassination plot didn’t materialize in a vacuum. They emerged from a toxic political environment where conservatives are routinely dehumanized and delegitimized.
Law Enforcement Response
Credit belongs to the Arlington County Police and federal law enforcement for preventing another political assassination. Their swift action likely saved Vought’s life and prevented another tragedy.
But arrests after the fact aren’t enough. America needs a comprehensive examination of the radicalization pipeline turning political disagreement into assassination plots.
The Real Threat to Democracy
The irony is lost on no one: Those claiming to defend democracy from “fascism” are the ones attempting political murder.
Vought’s work cutting bureaucratic excess and restoring accountability to government represents democracy in action—implementing the agenda voters elected Trump to pursue. The real threat comes from those who would rather kill public servants than accept election results.
This arrest must serve as a wake-up call. Political violence cannot become normalized in American life, regardless of which side perpetrates it.
But let’s be clear about the pattern: Conservative leaders and Trump allies face an unprecedented wave of assassination attempts and violent threats. That’s not opinion. That’s documented fact.
The question is whether America’s institutions have the courage to confront this reality honestly—or whether political correctness will prevent us from naming the threat.
