Authorities have laid bare the horrifying truth: two individuals are behind a gruesome crime that has shocked Louisiana. A 35-year-old mother has been brutally murdered, while her two young daughters have been victims of unimaginable horrors—one killed and the other subjected to unspeakable acts.

Daniel Callihan, aged 37, is at the center of this atrocity. He has accepted a plea deal from federal prosecutors, allowing him to evade the death penalty for his heinous actions committed in June 2024. This is a disgraceful outcome for such a grave crime.

His accomplice, 34-year-old Victoria Cox, is also reportedly being offered a plea deal, despite facing charges of capital murder, kidnapping, and sexual battery. This is an affront to justice, as she played a direct role in the suffering of these innocent children.

Callihan confessed to stabbing his ex-girlfriend, Callie Burnett, a staggering 50 times. He then callously transported her daughters, aged just 6 and 4, to Mississippi, where the youngest was murdered, and the older girl faced horrific abuse.

The gruesome details don’t stop there. Callihan buried the youngest in a shallow grave and imprisoned the surviving child in a dirt pit, showcasing a disturbing level of depravity.

This so-called justice system has allowed Callihan to confess to four felony charges—including capital murder, sexual battery, and kidnapping—yet still escape the ultimate punishment he deserves. He will spend life in prison, but for many, that is far from adequate.

Cox’s day of reckoning is approaching, with her trial set for December 8. The people demand justice for these heinous crimes, and our legal system must ensure that those who commit such wicked acts cannot evade their fate. This is a critical moment for our justice system—we cannot waver in our pursuit of true accountability.
