Radical Democrat Set for Congress Calls Declaration of Independence a “Screed,” Demands Societal Overhaul
Pennsylvania state Rep. Chris Rabb just called America’s founding document a performative “screed” designed to preserve elite power—and he’s heading to Congress virtually unopposed.
The Democrat nominee for Pennsylvania’s 3rd Congressional District made his inflammatory remarks at a June 26 panel ominously titled “America at 250 — Trump Fascism, Historical Erasure, and the Battle Over Truth” held at Independence Mall in Philadelphia. The location’s irony wasn’t lost on observers: Rabb stood mere feet from where the Founding Fathers signed the very document he was denouncing.
Running unopposed in the heavily Democratic district, Rabb’s ascension to Congress this November is all but guaranteed. What voters are getting is a self-described democratic socialist who views America’s core identity as fundamentally corrupt.
Founding Documents Dismissed as Tools of Oppression
Rabb didn’t mince words when attacking the philosophical bedrock of American liberty.
“Those screeds that were very lofty but were notoriously catering to a performative aspect of collective genius that purposely erased indigenous and black peoples,” Rabb declared, reducing the Declaration of Independence to theatrical propaganda.
He continued his revisionist assault: “It created distance from an empire to help very privileged people continue that privilege and ultimately institutionalize that through the U.S. Constitution many years later.”
According to Rabb’s warped worldview, America’s founding wasn’t about securing natural rights or establishing self-governance. Instead, it was merely an elite power grab that happened to switch which elites held the reins.
The Reparations Agenda: Reshaping All of Society
Rabb proudly identifies as “one of the few unapologetic reparationists going to Congress,” making racial reparations a centerpiece of his congressional agenda.
But his vision for reparations extends far beyond simple monetary payments. Rabb revealed the true scope of his ambitions when he explained that “reparations is not something that repairs black people. It repairs society itself.”
This is the language of comprehensive societal transformation—using reparations as a Trojan horse for remaking American institutions from the ground up. When progressive politicians say a policy “benefits everyone,” what they really mean is that everyone will be forced to participate in their ideological project whether they consent or not.
Rejecting the American Dream as a “Myth”
Rabb’s contempt for America didn’t stop at historical criticism. He explicitly called for Americans to abandon the foundational beliefs that have driven prosperity and opportunity for generations.
“You cannot kill the beast until you name it,” Rabb proclaimed with the fervor of an ideological crusader. “And that is difficult for many people who want to embrace certain tropes, certain narratives, whether it’s the American dream or American exceptionalism or the Protestant work ethic or so many other myths that do us no — they are a disservice.”
Read that again. The American dream? A myth. American exceptionalism? A dangerous narrative. The work ethic that built the world’s most prosperous economy? A disservice.
Rabb also declared that “fascism is not new” and claimed “these systems of harm are built into the very fabric of this nation.” This is the ideological foundation of someone who views America not as a flawed but improvable republic, but as irredeemably corrupt from its inception.
The Progressive Machine Behind the Radical
Rabb’s extreme positions haven’t hindered his political rise—they’ve accelerated it.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez endorsed his congressional campaign, joined by a who’s who of far-left organizations: Justice Democrats, the Working Families Party, the Congressional Progressive Caucus, and the Sunrise Movement.
This isn’t grassroots support. This is the progressive machine recognizing one of their own and clearing the path to power.
Rabb, a five-term Pennsylvania lawmaker, has never hidden his democratic socialist identity. He’s been consistent in aligning himself with the most radical elements of the progressive movement. The difference now is that he’s about to get a national platform and a vote on legislation affecting every American.
What This Means for America
Rabb’s imminent election represents more than one radical voice joining Congress. It’s a preview of the left’s long-term strategy: install ideologues who view America’s founding principles not as guideposts to be honored but as obstacles to be dismantled.
When politicians dismiss the Declaration of Independence as a “screed,” they’re not engaging in nuanced historical analysis. They’re laying the groundwork for rejecting the concept of natural rights entirely. If America wasn’t founded on the principle that rights come from our Creator rather than government, then government can redefine or revoke those rights at will.
When they attack American exceptionalism and the American dream as “myths,” they’re not promoting humility. They’re arguing that America deserves no special regard and that individual achievement through hard work is a lie. This ideological foundation justifies expansive government control over the economy and society.
When they demand reparations that “repair society itself,” they’re not seeking justice for historical wrongs. They’re pursuing the authority to restructure American institutions according to their ideological preferences, with the moral urgency of reparations as their justification.
The Unopposed Ascension
The most troubling aspect of Rabb’s story isn’t his radical views—the far left has always harbored America’s harshest critics. It’s that he’s running unopposed.
In a functional democracy, voters should have a choice between competing visions for the country’s future. Instead, Pennsylvania’s 3rd District will send a man to Congress who believes America’s founding was an elaborate scam, its core values are myths, and its entire society needs to be “repaired” according to his specifications.
Come November, Chris Rabb will almost certainly be Congressman Chris Rabb. And he’ll arrive in Washington with a mandate from the progressive movement to pursue his radical agenda without apology or compromise.
Americans who believe in the principles enshrined in the Declaration of Independence—that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with unalienable rights, that governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed—should pay close attention.
Because the people who call those words a “screed” are heading to Congress. And they’re not hiding what they plan to do once they get there.
