January 6th: The Real Coup Against Our Freedoms
On January 6, 2021, a pivotal moment unfolded—a clash of ideals that revealed a disturbing truth about our government’s tactics. While some hastily labeled the protest a “coup,” the reality is stark: the same figures decrying that day as an insurrection have orchestrated genuine coups abroad, resulting in untold suffering. The hypocrisy is glaring.
The establishment media seized upon the actions of a select few to incite outrage across the nation. Over 1,500 individuals faced charges, and almost 500 were imprisoned—many for minor infractions, such as entering the Capitol through doors held open by police. This gross exaggeration serves their narrative, demonizing political dissenters rather than considering the broader context.
Amidst this fervor, a handful of politicians dared to question the prevailing narrative. Rep. Thomas Massie emerged as a beacon of inquiry, relentlessly probing the uncomfortable question: How many “insurrectionists” were federal agents inciting the chaos? Yet, when pressed, Attorney General Merrick Garland refused to address this critical concern, leaving Americans in the dark about the true chain of events.
New revelations shed light on the situation. The recently released FBI “after action” report reveals that over 250 undercover agents infiltrated the crowd—an astonishing figure that raises serious questions about their true intentions. These agents were allegedly tasked with crowd control, an assignment for which they were ill-equipped. Reports of political bias within the FBI against conservatives further complicate the narrative. What other actions were these agents instructed to undertake?
The presence of more than two dozen paid informants within that crowd only deepens the intrigue. Rep. Barry Loudermilk, chair of the investigating subcommittee, rightly poses a vital question: Were these informants there to gather intelligence or to ignite unrest? The implications are profound, and the answer eludes us.
This day served not only as a flashpoint for protest but also as a tool for the incoming Biden Administration to malign and suppress dissent. Who knows how many Americans have been silenced out of fear of persecution? The price of speaking out against government overreach has never been higher. As we remain shackled by post-COVID restrictions, the chilling effect of January 6 remains evident.
In reality, January 6 was indeed a coup—but not in the way the narrative suggests. It was an assault on our First Amendment rights. The clear lesson here is unwavering: if we do not routinely assert our First Amendment guarantees through peaceful action, we risk losing them altogether, regardless of the political players in power. Our freedoms must be defended fiercely, or we will see them eroded.
