Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer just staged the most blatant display of political theater of the year. He’s threatening to haul the Trump White House before the FCC for “editing” President Trump’s hour-long 60 Minutes interview—ignoring that CBS released both the full transcript and uncut footage the moment it aired.

Schumer’s stunt drips with hypocrisy. His tweet bragged, “Maybe I should file a complaint with the FCC against the Trump White House for editing his unhinged 60 Minutes interview. It will use the exact same language Trump lodged against Vice President Harris.” Plain and simple: he’s grasping at straws.

The GOP’s rapid-response team wasted no time. “They deceptively edited Kamala’s answers to make her look somewhat coherent ahead of an election, you moron—then wouldn’t release the transcript/unedited interview,” they shot back. “That’s not the same as editing for time constraints.”

They’re right. In Kamala Harris’s case, CBS chopped clips to mask her incoherence and then sat on the full tape for days. President Trump’s interview? Published in full, transcript and all, on Day One.

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr piled on. “Due to the Schumer Shutdown, even your frivolous filing could not be processed by the FCC,” he tweeted. “End the Schumer Shutdown—stop inflicting pain on American families—and open the government instead of pandering to the far left.”

Republican lawmakers joined the chorus. Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA) snapped back: “Maybe you should stop posting nonsense at 1:19AM and open the government.” Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) added, “Quit trying to starve poor families and help us fix the broken healthcare system you created.”

Here’s the truth: Schumer’s complaint would collapse under its own weight. No credible regulator would penalize President Trump for standard time edits when all materials were made publicly available. This is pure political grandstanding—designed to rile the base, not solve a genuine problem.

Democrats have weaponized every institution in Washington. When they can’t win arguments on substance, they play the outrage card. Schumer’s threat is the latest example. It’s a distraction from the real crisis he’s engineering at the border, in the economy and with the partial government shutdown he insists on maintaining.

Republicans must keep the heat on. Call out every bit of Democratic hypocrisy. Demand that Chuck Schumer drop this frivolous complaint, end the shutdown, and start governing. America’s families deserve solutions, not left-wing tantrums.
