Squad Members Embarrass Themselves in Viral Social Media Meltdown Over “Jewish Josh” Confusion
The far-left’s obsession with Israel just produced one of the most embarrassing self-owns in recent congressional history.
Rep. Summer Lee, the Pennsylvania radical who rode into Congress on a wave of Democratic Socialists of America cash, spectacularly confused two Jewish Democrats named Josh while attempting to attack moderate Rep. Josh Gottheimer. The resulting Twitter debacle exposed everything wrong with the Squad: their reflexive anti-Israel hysteria, their stunning ignorance, and their complete inability to keep basic facts straight.
The Train Wreck Begins
It started when Gottheimer threw down the gauntlet against the DSA infiltrators poisoning his party. The New Jersey congressman declared the Democratic Socialists of America “not Democrats” but rather “socialists who want to hijack the Democratic Party.” He warned there’s “no room for anti-American bomb-throwers who oppose our ideas, values, and leaders.”
Lee couldn’t help herself. She fired back: “What about Dems who sign bombs and vote to drop them?”
The Correction
There was just one problem: Lee was thinking of Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, not Gottheimer. Shapiro had autographed an artillery shell destined for Ukraine during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s September 2024 visit to Scranton.
Gottheimer calmly corrected her: “You’re thinking of the other Jewish guy named Josh.”
Most people would have cut their losses and moved on. Not the Squad.
Omar Makes It Worse
Enter Rep. Ilhan Omar, the Somali-born congresswoman whose obsession with Israel has become the stuff of legend. She jumped into the fray to defend her Squad sister.
“He signed the bombs you voted to be dropped. Hope this helps!” Omar smugly declared.
The problem? Omar’s mind immediately went to Israel—not Ukraine, which was actually the subject of discussion. Her anti-Israel fixation is so deeply ingrained that she couldn’t even follow a basic conversation about Ukrainian aid.
The Knockout Punch
X’s Community Notes feature quickly slapped a correction on Omar’s post, pointing out her bizarre obsession with making everything about Israel.
Then Gottheimer delivered the devastating blow. He posted a screenshot proving that Omar herself had voted for the $60.8 billion Ukraine aid package in April 2024—the very legislation that funded those bombs Shapiro signed.
“Ilhan, you know who else voted for it? You,” Gottheimer posted.
The Deeper Problem
This isn’t just a social media spat. It’s a window into the intellectual bankruptcy of the Democratic Party’s socialist wing.
These Squad members can’t distinguish between two different Jewish politicians. They reflexively blame Israel for everything, even when the conversation has nothing to do with the Jewish state. And they vote for legislation they later pretend to oppose, all while posturing as principled progressives.
Gottheimer’s Crusade
The 51-year-old moderate has served in Congress since 2017 and has emerged as one of the most forceful voices against socialist infiltration of the Democratic Party. His original post championed progressive commentator Van Jones for publicly warning about the far-left’s destructive influence.
That warning looks increasingly prescient. Just last week, 103 House Democrats voted to strip Israel of $3.3 billion in U.S. aid through an amendment to the annual defense bill introduced by Rep. Thomas Massie.
The Stakes
The Democratic Party faces a critical choice: Will it remain a mainstream political party that supports American allies and interests? Or will it complete its transformation into a vehicle for anti-American radicals who can’t even keep basic facts straight?
The Squad’s latest embarrassment suggests they’re accelerating toward the latter. They’re so consumed by ideology that they’ve lost the ability to engage in basic political discourse without exposing their ignorance.
What This Reveals
This incident crystallizes everything Americans need to know about the far-left takeover of the Democratic Party. Squad members are:
More interested in attacking Jews named Josh than governing effectively.
Incapable of distinguishing between supporting Ukraine and supporting Israel.
Willing to vote for legislation they later pretend to oppose for political points.
So blinded by anti-Israel animus that they insert it into completely unrelated conversations.
The Future
Moderate Democrats like Gottheimer represent the party’s last hope for credibility. But they’re increasingly drowned out by socialist bomb-throwers who mistake Twitter dunks for actual policy achievements.
The Squad’s viral meltdown won’t change their behavior. They’ll continue confusing basic facts, attacking American allies, and embarrassing themselves on social media.
But it does provide a valuable public service: reminding Americans exactly who these radicals are and what they stand for. When they can’t even get a “Jewish Josh” straight, how can they be trusted with actual governance?
The answer is simple: They can’t.
