In an absurd display of law enforcement’s unexpected challenges, a police chase in Tennessee unfolded at a mind-boggling 7 mph early Tuesday morning. This surreal event saw an entire fleet of law enforcement vehicles, lights flashing and sirens blaring, tailing a suspect who was seemingly in no rush to evade justice.

Video footage captures the bizarre scene, where 28-year-old Katlyn Wray ambled along desolate Nashville highways, flanked by police vehicles trailing at a snail’s pace.

When officers finally caught Wray, her nonchalant response to their inquiries was chilling: “I’m already on paper for ten years anyway.” Such a remark underscores a stark reality—many criminals are brazenly indifferent to the law.

This slow-motion chase began at approximately 3 a.m. when officers found Wray asleep in the driver’s seat of a stolen Nissan Altima. Upon awakening, she abruptly threw the car in reverse, initiating her escape.

Despite officers deploying spike strips to immobilize her, Wray defied expectations, continuing to drive for nearly four hours on flat tires. The police pursuit was astonishingly lethargic, with speeds fluctuating between 7 mph and a strenuous 15 mph.

To compound the absurdity, police helicopters hovered overhead, capturing the unremarkable chase from above while ground units remained restricted by department policy, which prohibited the use of the PIT maneuver—an effective strategy to stop fleeing vehicles. Instead, the Tennessee Highway Patrol was called to intervene.

Ultimately, a trooper executed a successful PIT maneuver on Wray. Footage reveals officers putting her in handcuffs, clearly undeterred by her choice of bright pink attire as she was apprehended.

Wray now faces serious charges: two counts of vehicle theft, reckless endangerment, and four counts of felony evading arrest. This isn’t her first run-in with the law. She was already on probation for a forgery conviction, with a lengthy criminal record that includes aggravated burglary, cocaine possession, and multiple theft offenses throughout Tennessee.
