ISIS Sympathizers Throw Bombs in New York—And the Mayor Condemns the Victims
Two ISIS-inspired terrorists just threw homemade explosives packed with shrapnel at a crowd outside the New York City mayor’s residence while screaming “Allahu Akbar”—and Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s response was to condemn the protest victims.
Let that sink in for a moment.
This is where we are in America today. The threat isn’t just overseas. It’s here, on our streets, being coddled by elected officials who care more about political correctness than American lives.
The Attack That Should Shock—But Doesn’t
Over the weekend, approximately 20 people gathered outside Gracie Mansion for an anti-Islamist demonstration. Eighteen-year-old Emir Balat decided that was too much free speech for his taste.
He threw an ignited improvised explosive device toward the crowd. And yes, he was shouting “Allahu Akbar” while doing it.
Balat then ran toward his accomplice, 19-year-old Ibrahim Kayumi, grabbed a second device, lit it, and began running before dropping it. Both were arrested at the scene.
But here’s what the media won’t tell you: These weren’t fireworks or smoke bombs. These were legitimate IEDs—improvised explosive devices packed with nuts, bolts, and screws, mixed with a volatile compound that international terrorist groups nickname “Mother of Satan.”
Law enforcement sources confirmed the devices were so unstable they wouldn’t even need a fuse to detonate.
The ISIS Connection They’re Trying to Hide
The criminal complaint reveals what the mainstream media desperately wants to bury.
After arrest, when a bystander asked Kayumi why he did this, his response—captured on NYPD body camera—was simple: “ISIS.”
Both suspects made additional references to ISIS in post-arrest statements after waiving their Miranda rights. They admitted to watching ISIS propaganda videos and being inspired by the terrorist organization.
The travel patterns tell the rest of the story. Balat spent over three months in Istanbul, Turkey, last year. Kayumi traveled there in 2024. Anyone familiar with international terrorism knows exactly what happens in certain Istanbul circles.
These weren’t confused teenagers. They were radicalized terrorists who built bombs specifically designed to maximize casualties with shrapnel—the same tactics used by Islamic terrorists worldwide.
A Pattern the Left Refuses to Acknowledge
This should dominate every news cycle in America. Instead, it’s being buried.
Because acknowledging this attack means acknowledging a pattern the Democratic Party has spent years denying: radical Islamic terrorism on American soil is alive and thriving.
Let’s review the recent history they want you to forget:
The Austin nightclub shooting last week—terrorist wearing a “Property of Allah” sweatshirt. The New Orleans ramming attack on January 1, 2025—14 Americans killed, ISIS flag in the truck. The 2017 New York City truck attack—eight people run down. The 2016 Saint Cloud Mall stabbing—ten people stabbed by a terrorist shouting “Allahu Akbar.”
The 2016 Pulse nightclub massacre in Orlando—49 Americans killed in what was then the deadliest mass shooting in our history, perpetrator pledging allegiance to ISIS while shouting “Allahu Akbar.”
The pattern is undeniable. The threat is real. And it’s being systematically ignored by a Democratic establishment that views American citizens concerned about terrorism as the real problem.
The Mayor’s Disgraceful Response
Here’s where this story moves from disturbing to absolutely infuriating.
After ISIS-inspired terrorists threw bombs at American citizens exercising their First Amendment rights, Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s office released a statement condemning—wait for it—the protesters.
Not the bombers. The protesters.
The mayor’s press secretary called the anti-Islamist gathering “despicable and Islamophobic,” organized by “a vile white supremacist.” The statement expressed relief that the mayor and First Lady were safe from the “threats they both face regularly.”
Threats from whom? The people exercising their constitutional rights, or the ISIS sympathizers throwing bombs?
Mamdani’s official statement mentioned the protest organizer by name, condemned him in the strongest terms, and then vaguely referenced that “violence at a protest is never acceptable” and that “the attempt to use an explosive device” was “reprehensible.”
Notice what’s missing? Any mention of who actually threw the bombs. Any reference to ISIS. Any acknowledgment of radical Islamic terrorism. Any condemnation of the actual terrorists’ beliefs or motivations.
If you read Mamdani’s statement without context, you would think the protesters threw the bombs at themselves.
This is gaslighting on a municipal scale.
Why This Moral Bankruptcy Matters
We have one group saying things the mayor doesn’t like. We have another group—ISIS adherents—who literally built explosive devices packed with shrapnel designed to kill and maim Americans.
And the mayor of America’s largest city cannot bring himself to specifically condemn the terrorists.
This isn’t complicated. When ISIS supporters throw bombs at American citizens, you condemn the ISIS supporters. You name the threat. You call out radical Islamic terrorism. You make crystal clear that this ideology has no place in our society.
Unless, of course, you sympathize with it.
The First Family’s Terrorist Sympathies
Mamdani’s response makes perfect sense when you understand his background and that of his wife, New York’s First Lady.
Mamdani has been a lifelong supporter of terrorist causes, dating back to his failed rapper days. His wife repeatedly liked social media posts celebrating the October 7 Hamas massacre as it unfolded in real-time. She even endorsed posts calling New York Times reporting on Hamas’s systematic rape of Israeli women “a mass rape hoax.”
When confronted about his wife’s terrorist sympathies, Mamdani dismissed the question, claiming his wife is “a private person” who holds no formal position.
She’s the First Lady of New York City. She’s about as private as the Statue of Liberty.
The real question is whether Mamdani disagrees with his wife’s support for terrorists who rape, murder, and burn families alive. He’s never said he does. And his response to this ISIS bombing attempt suggests he doesn’t.
The Democratic Party’s Terrorism Problem
This isn’t a fringe issue anymore. The Democratic Party has made downplaying and excusing radical Islamic terrorism a mainstream position.
They need to maintain their coalition with far-left activists who view America and Israel as the real villains. Acknowledging that Islamic terrorism poses a genuine threat to Americans undermines that narrative.
So they’ve made a choice: political expediency over American lives.
Zohran Mamdani is the logical endpoint of this moral rot. A mayor who cannot condemn ISIS-inspired bombers without equivocating. A mayor married to someone who celebrated the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust. A mayor who sees American citizens concerned about terrorism as a bigger threat than actual terrorists.
This is the face of the modern Democratic Party—and it should terrify every American who values their safety and freedom.
The terrorists aren’t just in the Middle East. They’re here. And they have allies in the highest levels of Democratic-run cities.
It’s time Americans demanded better. Our lives depend on it.
