In a shocking display of lawlessness, three illegal aliens in Minneapolis brutally attacked an ICE agent with a shovel last night—an attack made possible only by the Biden administration’s reckless open-borders policies.

The trio—identified as Venezuelan national Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis and compatriots Alfredo Alejandro Ajorna and Gabriel Alejandro Hernandez-Ledezma—were all released into the U.S. interior despite outstanding warrants and final deportation orders.

ICE agents were executing a targeted arrest warrant for Sosa-Celis, who had a prior conviction for driving without a license and a history of providing false identification to law enforcement. Under Biden directives that prioritize catch-and-release, Sosa-Celis walked free after his initial border crossing in 2022.

When agents moved in, Sosa-Celis fled in a vehicle, crashed into a parked car, then bolted on foot. An ICE officer gave chase—and paid the price.

As the officer closed in, Sosa-Celis struck him with a shovel. At that moment, Ajorna and Hernandez-Ledezma sprinted into the fray and joined the savage assault.

Bloodied and outnumbered, the ICE agent feared for his life. He drew his weapon and shot Sosa-Celis in the leg, finally parrying the attack.

The three suspects bolted into a nearby apartment building and barricaded themselves inside. SWAT teams later apprehended them; all are now in ICE custody. The wounded agent remains hospitalized but expected to recover.

Ajorna and Hernandez-Ledezma both crossed the southern border in May 2023 and evaded their immigration hearings after being released by DHS under Mayorkas’s “non-priority” classification. Ajonra already faces a final deportation order.

This violent episode underscores the existential threat posed by Biden’s border chaos. Every day, American law enforcement is endangered by policies that reward defiance of our laws. It is time for Congress and the next administration to restore order, secure our border, and protect the men and women who risk their lives to defend our nation.
