The Vice President didn’t mince words: “What we’re doing in the Trump administration, we’re saying, ‘No more.’ If you are trying to take advantage of that visa program, you are not allowed in to the United States of America.”

Cartel Connections and Medical Industry Infiltration

Labor Department Inspector General Anthony D’Esposito revealed the disturbing scope of the criminal enterprise. The fraud extends far beyond simple paperwork violations—these schemes involve forced labor networks, human traffickers, and transnational criminal organizations.

“This is another example where fraud is fueling violent crime,” D’Esposito stated bluntly. The visa fraud “is tied to cartels, is tied to transnational gangs.”

Even more alarming: these fraudulent workers aren’t just filling warehouse positions. They’re infiltrating America’s healthcare system.

“This is not just people working in factories or actual labor,” D’Esposito explained. “These are people working in medical facilities and doctors’ offices that are actually putting people in harm’s way.”

The investigation targets both H-1B visa holders and employment-based green card recipients. The H-1B program allows non-citizens to work in the United States when companies claim they need highly skilled foreign workers. The reality? Too often, it’s being used as a tool for wage suppression and worker displacement.

The Scope of the Problem

The data reveals the magnitude of this crisis. Most H-1B workers come from India—73% of all recipients. The majority fill roles in programming, data communications, and technical support. More than half possess master’s degrees, yet fraud remains rampant.

Tech giants like Amazon, Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Apple recruit heavily from the H-1B pool. Others work in healthcare, manufacturing, and higher education. California, New York, Illinois, Texas, and Washington State receive the most petitions.

Under the Biden administration, H-1B approvals peaked at 442,425 applications in 2022. That’s nearly half a million foreign workers entering the American job market in a single year while American STEM graduates struggled to find positions in their fields.

Trump Administration Takes Action

The Trump administration has moved decisively to address these abuses. Last year, President Trump signed an executive action imposing a $100,000 annual fee for all H-1B applicants—a bold move designed to ensure only legitimate high-skill workers would justify the program’s use.

A federal judge struck down that measure in June, demonstrating once again how activist courts obstruct common-sense reforms that protect American workers.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development also took action, stopping non-permanent residents, including H-1B visa holders, from accessing FHA-insured mortgages starting in May 2025. If you’re not committed to America permanently, taxpayers shouldn’t subsidize your housing.
