President Donald Trump’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is taking bold action to safeguard American jobs by terminating the automatic extension of work permits for migrants.
This pivotal policy shift, announced by DHS officials, mandates that migrants must now undergo thorough “screening and vetting” before being granted extensions on their work permits. This is a decisive move to prioritize American interests over the previous administration’s reckless approach.
United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Director Joseph Edlow has made it clear: the Biden administration’s focus on migrants over national security must end. It’s time to restore common sense in immigration policy.
“USCIS is placing a renewed emphasis on robust alien screening and vetting, eliminating policies that prioritized convenience over the safety and security of American citizens. All aliens must remember that working in the United States is a privilege, not a right.”
The statistics tell a concerning story. Under the Biden administration, nearly all job growth went to newly arrived migrants while millions of hardworking Americans were sidelined. This is unacceptable.
In stark contrast, under Trump’s leadership, job gains are being reclaimed for native-born Americans. Nearly all recent job growth is benefiting those who have been out of work, while close to two million migrants have exited the labor market.
This administration is committed to ensuring that American workers come first. It’s time to put the needs of our citizens above all else.
