Undercover footage has shattered the illusion: the University of Virginia’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion regime lives on under new names, five months after Governor Glenn Youngkin’s decisive 2021 victory and the Board of Visitors’ bold vote to abolish UVA’s DEI office. An assistant dean quietly confessed DEI’s survival, admitting the Multicultural Student Services unit—and its network of student centers—serve as clandestine DEI hubs. This is not a glitch. It’s the left’s deliberate, stealth takeover of our universities.
Since 2021, Virginia conservatives have clawed back power on campus. Youngkin and Attorney General Jason Miyares forced UVA’s DEI office to shut its doors and secured a binding agreement with the Department of Justice to end illegal racial discrimination. Yet DEI operatives simply renamed their machinery. They have weaponized every “center” under the guise of community support to indoctrinate students.
In August, Alex Winkowski, UVA’s assistant dean and director of fraternity and sorority life, admitted on hidden camera: “The DEI office has been changed in name, and I think it’s going to be a little more taken down. But like the Multicultural Student Services unit is still here.” Winkowski boasted that the LGBTQ Center alone outspends elite private schools—funneled alumni cash and scholarships—to enforce radical identity politics.
This isn’t an isolated incident. Over the past year:
• Vanderbilt’s vice provost confessed DEI programs persist “even if we don’t label everything as DEI work.”
• At the University of Tennessee, the “Access and Engagement” office replaced “Diversity and Inclusion” yet continues the same quota-driven agenda.
• Texas A&M’s English department once again turned a children’s literature course into a pro-LGBT indoctrination lab, toppling its president.
These revelations expose a nationwide DEI Hydra: cut off one head, two more sprout in its place. Leftist administrators exploit every loophole—relabelling offices, bundling programs into innocuous-sounding “centers,” and hiding behind alumni donations—to evade conservative reforms and federal scrutiny.
Virginia’s 2025 agreement with the DOJ explicitly requires quarterly certifications from UVA’s president that no unlawful racial discrimination occurs in programming, admissions, or hiring. Yet UVA spokesman Brian Coy insists winkowski’s admission “does not represent official University policies,” while simultaneously “renaming spaces” to appear inclusive. This is Orwellian doublespeak: big DEI salad, small truth.
Republicans must act now. Voters heading to the polls Tuesday must demand:
1. Full transparency on all student centers’ budgets, curricula, and admission criteria.
2. Biannual audits by independent conservative legal teams to ensure compliance with the DOJ agreement.
3. Legislative bans on state funding for any campus entity promoting group-based preferences, quotas, or exclusionary ‘safe havens.’
The left’s stealth DEI expansion is an assault on merit, free speech, and the American idea that individuals rise by talent and effort, not skin color or sexual orientation. These programs divide students into identity blocs, punish dissent, and funnel taxpayer dollars into grievance factories.
Governor Youngkin delivered the first blow to DEI in Richmond. Now it’s time for a full-scale offensive. Conservative activists must infiltrate every board meeting, school board, and alumni association. Attorney General Miyares must pledge prosecutions for any campus that defies the DOJ agreement. And voters across Virginia must reward candidates who promise to defund, dismantle, and destroy DEI at every turn.
DEI is not a benign “initiative.” It’s a radical ideology that subverts equality under law. Let this explosive footage be the clarion call: the left will not surrender its indoctrination apparatus without a fight. It’s ours to finish the job. Streitbare Demokraten, unite, and make sure Virginia remains a beacon of freedom, not a stronghold for stealth racism and coercive activism.
